Ben Davis 2009 Fall/Winter Collection

Ben Davis has traditionally been known as a workwear brand with roots dating back to 1935. However rolling with the times, the brand has now given itself a contemporary make-over as the Japanese market has seemed to accept the well-backed brand in a more fashionable light. In a quick overview of some of the brand’s offerings, we see some more fashionable pieces beyond your usual utilitarian workwear aesthetic. This includes jackets, bottoms and hooded vests that share a common contrasting design. Available now at BENCH.

Michael Lau x Nike SB Stefan Janoski - Gardener 10th

Michael Lau created a crazy wood grain Nike SB Zoom Stefan Janoski to commemorate the tenth anniversary of his Gardner vinyl figurines.  A set dropped in LA at the ‘Gardner Tenth’ exhibition, each pair of shoes along with a randomly coloured toy.  Turns out that wasn’t the only chance you have at getting these maple-toned beauties along with a bright plastic companion.  It’ll be an NY Fat 12″ figure in either purple, red, orange, green or one of two shades of yellow along with the kicks, now avaiable at Kix-Files

Verizon - “Droid Does” Commerical

Both Apple and iPhone evangelists probably weren’t too happy today with the new VerizonDroid Does” Commercial that has been blitzing television during yesterday’s American League Championship Series. Listing everything the iPhone can’t accomplish and then offering the Droid (Android) as an ultimate modern gadget savior, the commercial pretty much identified every sore spot of the well-loved iPhone and doused the wounds with salt. The interesting thing about this commercial is that Verizon is not gunning at AT&T, but just its hottest product. Another fun information to note, especially for Star Wars fan boys is that Lucasflim Ltd. licensed the “Droid” word to Verizon for use. We still don’t know if Mr. George Lucas owns a Droid or iPhone, but obviously the man is willing to lend his back to the Google-powered number.

Nike Cortez “Flymotion”

Renowned in its day for its lightness and flexibility, the original nylon Cortez is a concrete slipper compared to the wispy waif that is the Cortez Flymotion. Having gone under the knife for a Flywire makeover, the Cortez is now a lean high-performance running machine. The crispy pure white upper on this version accentuates the shoe’s lightness, while the sharp red splice beneath the heel and the bright green sole draws attention to the flexible FREE technology underfoot. Mexicali madness!
